Hooray for Spay!

So Tipsy got spayed yesterday. Thank goodness!! Not only will I have a long living rabbit, but a not as crazy long living rabbit.

So it was raining, uncontrollably when I drove to the spay clinic. I get there and its still closed and its 730am, time to wake up people! I walk in and fill out all of her information and I reach the bottom and it asks me if I want a pulse monitor and IV fluids during recovery... umm, isnt the vet supposed to tell me if I need this instead of asking me if I want them? And it has the charges next to the item like I am shopping for my rabbit's surgery. So sketch. Then I go to fill out the back sheet which asks me if I want anesthesia blood work done presurgery for 85 bucks, recommended but not necessary... no necessary, no thanks. So I give my information to the very cold receptionist with the "I dont want to be here and I certainly dont want to be around people right now" look on her face, and her tone proves it. I wait for Tipsy's name to be called and while I wait, a fight between dogs almost breaks out, funny thing, it involved a pitbull, but it pit did not start it. It was the lab. The lab was vicious! Teeth bared, snarled growl, and a bark that said "I will rip you to shreds when I get a hold of you." It was scary. Finally Tipsy's name was called and we walked in to the waiting room. I didnt know what to expect after that awful wait. But luckily, the vet tech was very nice! Instead of forcing my rabbit out to get a weight and vitals, she pet her head, spoke to her nicely and waited for Tipsy to come out on her own accord. We got her weight of 6.00 pounds (woohoo!) and then the vet came in. Big burly old man, but very nice. Knew rabbits well. Course all he did was check her breathing and heart rate and said she will be ready at 4pm. And there she went in her crate and in the back room. My heart sank when I walked out of that clinic. I wondered if I did the right thing by bringing her there. I was so scared!!! Every hour on the hour I looked at the clock. Finally it was 3:25 and I bolted out the door. I got back to the clinic and waited in line for my sweet bun. Everyone at the counter explained what dog or cat they were getting, I walked up and the receptionist said, "you have the rabbit." At least I am remembered. A vet tech brought her out and she seemed all perky and had some hay in her carrier, so I thought, well they do know bunnies. I brought her in the car and she just zonked out like "oh I know this car and this is my human, I am safe now." I got back home and put her in her kennel and she didnt move for the rest of the night... well she did pee but she slept in her litterbox.
Next morning (I got 4 hours of sleep btw) I hear the sounds of a grass mat... she is awake!! and eating!!! Eating her grass mat, eating her hay, eating her food, drinking her water, just doing great! And the later on the day goes and she gets restless. Every time I went to open the kennel door, she would push her way to try to get out so she could run around. I feel so bad leaving her in there but it is a Great Dane's kennel so it is huge. She does sleep more often than usual, considering it is only the first day. So maybe it will be a quick recovery!!
